I am a designer who is interested in the significance of physical creative practice in an ever-digitising world. Drawing and scanning, cutting and sewing to make books, the work which excites me most always contains some element of physical labour, often distorted digitally. A lot of my work borders on being conceptual art, trying to provoke a range of reactions.
This is funny because I also have a degree in user experience design, though these skills don’t intersect often, I do find myself playing with the literal user experience of a design, whether that be an intentionally overstimulating video, or a book of typewritten word art.
I love anything weird, any work which elicits a strong response, not necessarily positive, perhaps even something strategically grotesque. I am interested in controlling the visceral response to a design and usually work with that front of mind.
