We are the 2025 graduates of the VCA’s Design and Production school – a company of makers, designers, and technicians who have spent our time at the VCA developing the skills to bring visual concept to life, whether on stage, screen, or in print.
Through graphic design, production design for stage and screen, and technical production for live performance, our studies have been defined by collaboration and hands-on learning. Working across disciplines and schools, we’ve worked closely with our peers to give shape to ideas in the form of productions, exhibitions, and projects that challenged our creativity and technical skills, and pushed the potential for design to shape meaning.
Graphic designers have explored how typography, colour and composition can not only communicate ideas but also challenge them, while set and costume designers have tested fabrics, materials, and construction methods to meet both functional and dramaturgical needs. Grounding and amplifying these ideas through colour, audio, and movement were our sound, lighting, and digital media students, while stage management students have learned to coordinate complex productions, and integrate multiple departments to ensure performances come alive seamlessly.
Through capstone projects, industry placements, and immersive collaborations, we’ve developed portfolios that showcase not only technical expertise but also adaptability, ingenuity, and the ability to solve unexpected problems under pressure. These experiences have taught us how design interacts with space, movement, narrative, and audience, allowing us to step confidently into our careers, wherever they take us.
Together, we are a graduating cohort ready to shape the world of design and production with skill, imagination, and thoughtfulness – bringing our ideas, our collaborations, and our shared passion for making to every stage, screen, and studio we enter.
