My name is Rob Larcher, I'm a 21 year old male who was born in Oxford, England but I was raised and studied in Melbourne. Through my 3 year tenure at the VCA I have explored the connection between analogue and digital processes. As I believe it is important that we as graphic designers use both methods to create the most impactful and exciting work. I often use analogue approaches during the early stages of folios before progressing into the digital space for final outcomes.
Throughout my degree I have found an interest in branding. The idea of starting from scratch and designing a brands foundations off core values and a target markets allows for creative expression to flow freely. Adding to the sense of accomplishment when completed. That is why for my major folio I created the brand Shake Street Skate which combines my passion for clothing and sport into one unified brand, designed for the Melbournians.
Spring Drop poster, 2025. Shows off the tee, jeans and cap that can be bought. Highly contrasting visuals between the typeface and imagery make both aspects pop. However through the use of hierarchy the clothes become the main focus, ahead of the brand and information.
Spring Drop instagram post, 2025. Inspired by the visual identity of Next Door Originals, Shake Street Skate was able to formulate its own instagram page. However it is important that it appealed to a more Melbourne based target market, hence the slightly more grungy and muted colours of the post.

Glass Medicine promotional poster, 2025. Aimed at improving transparency around medical packaging and marketing, the brand Glass Medicine was created. All the products packaging is a simple pot with the absolute bare necessity of information in line with medical regulations, along with the name of the medicine and not dominated by branding elements. This demonstrates a brand that has transparency and trust as its core values as it makes purchasing off the counter medicine easy and simple. Each medicine's tagline also helps to inform the buyer what the medicine is best used to fight against.

Instagram mockup emphasising a save the date post for the End of Year Exhibition (EYE), 2025. Accompanied by student work templates it demonstrates how using a unified grid layout and typography ties all the posts together. Forming a suite of designs all relating to the same exhibition but differing based on their respective design disciplines. This change is consistent through the three equally contrasting colours and shapes (triangle, square and circle). Which when they come together form the icon logo to symbolise the different majors that make up the design fields at the VCA.
