A2 size prompt posters. Inspired by themes in a workshop with artist Charlie Sofo held at the George Paton Gallery in collaboration with Practice Lab. The workshop focuses on being attuned to your environment. The poster series shows a set of instructions for interacting with found objects and the agentic capacity they have. Participants were asked to relinquish control over these found objects and surrender them to the basket. These objects were then archived.

Madelaine Mackaway is a Graphic designer whose practice investigates the embodied experience. Through sensory research methods like walking and collaborative making, she explores how theory can be understood through the body. Her recent Honours thesis, Walking as a Critical Methodology to read and re-story Graphic design in the urban environment, examined how these practices can reinterpret Graphic design in-situ. This research-informed approach manifests in a focused interest in small-scale print design and typography, where she finds a tangible space for critical inquiry. Her recent work includes a poster series and experimental publication for the MPavilion Parkville exhibition Sēmeíōsis, a group wayfinding installation for Melbourne Design Week. Madelaine is looking forward to experimenting more with print design, collaborate with like-minded people and learn learn learn! Madelaine is contactable via email and always happy to get involved in creative projects.
