Great Expectations 2025
Introducing Pipli (Anar Anar)
Performed and composed by David Balaban (Sitar)
Recorded and edited by Jett Manzie
I wanted to create overtures for the different aspects of our main characters story. A simple sitar connects Pipli to his roots and it continues to return as he's reconnects with his past after leaving for the big city. This is first introduction as a young child, we hear it pure and innocent, like his heart.
Directed by Georgina Naidu
Set by Nethmi Gunasekera

Lighting by August Johnson
Great Expectations 2025
Vines Growning in Miss Havisham's Garden

As Pipli feels the shame and humiliation placed upon him by Miss Havisham and Estella, the vines in the garden begin to grow on the archway's, he feels trapped in his life, the feeling of closing in.

Great Expectations 2025
Pipli's Journey
Performed and composed by David Balaban (Sitar)
Recorded and edited by Jett Manzie
Pipli goes on his massive story of growth and change, many die and others leave him forever, there is a sweetness here but a melancholy, this theme returns when he looses those he loves, or reminds him when he is loosing himself.
Directed by Georgina Naidu
Set by Nethmi Gunasekera
Costume by Alannah Citino
Lighting by August Johnson
Great Expectations 2025
Miss Havisham's Tiles
Projection Design by Jett Manzie
The village and vibrant city is filled with saturated colours, in contrast I wanted to show the darkness of Miss Havisham's house. The tiles represent a colour scheme not shown anywhere else while referencing her likeness to the Queen of Hearts and absurdity of the space in which she occupies.
Directed by Georgina Naidu
Set by Nethmi Gunasekera
Costume by Alannah Citino
Lighting by August Johnson
Great Expectations 2025
Welcome to Calcutta
Projection and sound by Jett Manzie
The opening of Act 2, Pipli has arrived in the city. The mandala represents an opening, a new chapter, while also referencing a chalk rangoli often drawn in the dirt or on stone streets of India.

Song: Songs from the Seven Towers by Bombay Dub Orchestra

Fountain 2025
Fountain Interlude
Composed by Jett Manzie
We rest in between the chaotic movement of the second and third act of the piece. The interlude takes an undercurrent of ambience from the second act while introducing a calm melody to lull you into the dreamlike state.
Directed by Phillip Adams
Set by Nethmi Gunasekera
Costume by Isobel McCauley
Lighting by Andrew Thompson
Projection by Amy Todd and Lochlan Maher

A Very Expensive Poison 2024
Professor Dombey's Poem
Composed by Jett Manzie
As the Professor tells us the story of Marie Curie and shadows play on the wall, the whispering drone takes us back into the past, while radiation whips the corners of our ears.
Directed by Katy Maudlin
Set by Jonel Factor
Costume by Dylan Lumsden
Lighting by Oscar McGovern

A Very Expensive Poison 2024
Luguvoi's Monologue
Composed by Jett Manzie
As we transition out of our Russian 90's soiree, the music slows and takes a dark turn as Luguvoi reminisces about his memories of the war, we hear the fragments of the scene behind us we we enter his mind, his trauma.
Directed by Katy Maudlin
Set by Jonel Factor
Costume by Dylan Lumsden
Lighting by Oscar McGovern
Everybody 2024
La Danse Macarbe
Projection design by Jett Manzie
Skeletons dance in a whirl of light, sound and stars. This was our representation of bodies coming together in the liminal space, the stars of the southern hemisphere orient us to time and place within the abstract.
Directed by Isabella Vadiveloo
Set by Stephanie McNally
Costume by Charlie Lee
Lighting by Giovanna Yate Gonzalez
Sound by Caoimhe Sian Harkin
Everybody 2024
In the dark there is a conversation
Projection design by Jett Manzie
Unnamed bodies speak words on the wall as if in a dream, swirls move on the tv, bending reality, maybe the conversation is a memory? or just happening inside your head?

Lighting by Giovanna Yate Gonzalez
Sound by Caoimhe Sian Harkin
Everybody 2024
THE SUMMONING

GOLDRUSH SKULL 2025
Projection installation by Jett Manzie
This started by wanting to create a single point of focus at the back of a room for a music event, above an a doorway people would see as they exited the room, the visuals synched with the music.
