Type Specimen: EK Roumald

Conan is a designer, artist, and creative technologist whose practice moves across interactive media, worldbuilding, sound design, and graphic systems. Their work is grounded in the belief that design is a form of quiet speculation, a way of building alternative realities that feel both intimate and otherworldly. Conan’s projects often emerge as hybrid environments where code, material processes, and narrative coexist, creating spaces that invite reflection, curiosity, and subtle forms of participation.

Whether designing immersive web environments, building game worlds, crafting garments, directing brand identities, or composing sound pieces, Conan’s practice revolves around reciprocity, sensory subtlety, and fictional authenticity. They work with an attention to detail and atmosphere, creating experiences that feel discovered rather than presented, artworks that behave like artefacts from adjacent worlds.

Conan’s ongoing interests include virtual identity, participatory myth-making, speculative ecology, memory and preservation, embodied interaction, and the blurred boundaries between simulation and reality. Across mediums, they aim to create work that is conceptual yet accessible, poetic yet precise, and deeply attuned to the emotional and cultural dimensions of design.
