
August Johnson (All Pronouns) is a Sydney-raised, Melbourne-based lighting technician, programmer and operator. They recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).
Their credits while at the VCA include Programmer & Head Electrician on 'Fountain' (choreo. Philip Adams), Lighting Designer on 'Great Expectations' (dir. Georgina Naidu) and Head Electrician & Dome Operator on ‘Spring Awakening’ (dir. Petra Kalive). Outside of the VCA, their credits include writer and actor in Exit Ghost’s ‘Greenlit’. August also completed Secondment in the lighting department on ‘Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf’ at Sydney Theatre Company in 2025.
August is passionate about works driven and inspired by music, specifically drawn to musical theatre and live music events, such as concerts or music festivals. They believe that light and music work hand in hand to create and shape the experience for the audience. They bring a unique perspective to each project they work on, not only from a technical perspective but from their years of experience as a performer and artist.
